Man with a guitar
Painter, sculptor and engraver, Braque was born at Argenteuil (France). He died in Paris on August 31st, 1963.
At first, influenced by Henri Matisse, André Derain and Othon Friesz, Braque joins the «Fauve» movement. In 1906, he will paint the «l'Estaque» landscapes in which houses are cube shaped.
Then, Cézanne's paintings will bring Braque to a definite break with the classic vision. His volumes will explode. His cubist period will last from 1911 to 1914. He translate still lifes through geometrical forms in which he introduces stenciled letters.
